Sermorelin

Also known as GHRH 1-29, Geref

GHRH 1-29 fragment used to stimulate natural GH release.

Medical status: Was approved for GH deficiency diagnosis; commonly compounded today.

Also commonly used for (off-label)

  • Age-related GH decline
  • Sleep, energy and recovery in anti-ageing clinics

Off-label and research uses are what people report, not approved indications. Talk to a clinician before using any of them.

How it's taken (route)

Documented dose
200–600 mcg
Typical frequency
Once daily at bedtime, fasted
Cycle
12 weeks on, 6 off
Half-life
~10-20 minutes
Common vial sizes
5 mg, 10 mg
Regulatory status
Previously approved; now compounded, regulatory status varies.

Dose on a U-100 syringe (200–600 mcg)

VialBAC waterDraw
5 mg2.5 mL10–30 units
5 mg3 mL12–36 units
10 mg2.5 mL5.0–15 units
10 mg3 mL6.0–18 units

On a U-100 syringe, 100 units = 1 mL, and the syringe holds 100 units total. Most people keep a single subcutaneous injection under about 50 units — bigger volumes are usually mixed stronger (less water) or split into two shots. Only mixes that fit in one syringe are shown. Always double-check with the reconstitution calculator.

What it does

The original growth-hormone-releasing peptide — a copy of the first 29 amino acids of the body's own GHRH. It asks the pituitary for growth hormone instead of supplying it from outside, so the body's own feedback controls stay in charge. What people look into it for: • Age-related decline in growth hormone in adults • Better sleep quality and recovery • Gradual improvements in body composition, skin and energy • A safer-feeling alternative to injected HGH Results build over months rather than weeks. It was previously used medically to diagnose growth hormone deficiency in children.

Mechanism

Binds pituitary GHRH receptors, preserving feedback-regulated GH pulses.

Storage — lyophilisedwhat's this?

Refrigerate 2-8C, protect from light.

Storage — reconstitutedwhat's this?

Refrigerate 2-8C, use within ~28 days.

Reconstitution noteswhat's this?

Common mix: 5 mg vial + 2.5 ml bacteriostatic water = 20 mcg per unit (200 mcg = 10 units). A 10 mg vial with the same 2.5 ml gives 40 mcg per unit (200 mcg = 5 units).

Stacks well with

Popular combinations reported in the community and research literature — not a recommendation. Adding peptides multiplies side-effect risk; check with a clinician.

Commonly reported side effects

  • Injection-site redness
  • Flushing
  • Headache
  • Dizziness

Contraindications noted

  • Active malignancy
  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding

Research notes

Withdrawn commercially in the US but widely compounded.
